Initially trained as a consultant in Emergency Medicine and worked in ED at the RAH. "Saw the light" and completed studies in Intensive Care, attaining his FCICM at the RAH ICU, then commenced work as a consultant at Flinders Medical Centre, ICU.

Returned to the full-time staff of the RAH Intensive Care Unit in 2007.
